Welcome To My Piece Of The Web
This is the quilt that started it all for me, Charleston Beckonings.  Three years ago, I was asked to design the donation quilt for our quilt show in Charleston.  Previously, I had made lots of quilts but I had never made a large one entirely from an original perspective.  And I didn't know I could actually do it, until I tried!  Since our guild is in Charleston, SC, I decided that the quilt should reflect our local environment.  I started with a palmetto tree, which is our state tree, and then went on to choose other elements--such as a loggerhead turtle and magnolias--that would further enhance the theme.  The result was life-altering.  The entire direction of my quilting changed.   Now I focus far more on interpreting my environment in fabric and sharing that vision with others.
Welcome.

Quilts From The Earth
And  now I have entered a new faze of my life.  We have moved back to the mountains of North Carolina--in Hendersonville.  We love it here and I know that it is already begining to influence my quilting life.  One of my recent quilts, Swamp Hibiscus, was designed early one morning as I was seated in my new  living room and reflecting on how very fortunate I was to be able to return to this beautiful part of the world.  In a way that was quite unusual for me, the design for this new work came to me as a completed quilt and I knew I would absolutely love it when it was finished.
I feel as if I have new eyes now--eyes that are more open than ever before.  And there is much to see all around me.  I am excited about what is next and am looking forward to sharing it with you.  Come back often and see!
